gLAdiator “BRAND NEW” REMIX EP DROPS FRIDAY
L.A.'s gLAdiator (Ian Johnson & Danl Goodman) have been making waves in the dance music scene with there constant stream of brilliant remixes and originals. Their high energy brand of moombahton, electro and dubstep have gained them support from the likes of Diplo, Dillon Francis, Heartbreak, ETC!ETC! and Valerna just to name a few. The boys are releasing a free remix EP this Friday (which I had the pleasure of previewing) of their track, "Brand New" which is a squealing moombahton banger of the highest order. It's definitely got a sound that belongs in the more dutch house moombahton camp as opposed to the more recent moombahcore and jump-up varietals. The EP includes remixes from Aylen, Cy Kosis, Lazerdisk Party Sex, Team Jaguar, and Planet Rock. The Aylen remix adds a bit more punch to original without overdoing it, and there is a synth breakdown at 1:45 that I just love. Cy Kosis' rework has a deep dark dutch house vibe with excellent sampling and vivid synth stabs throughout. The Lazerdisk Party Sex remix is a Baltimore Club edit and sounds a lot different than what i've come to expect from them. Don't let that disuade you because it's a really fun take on gLAdiator's original. It'll have you up on the floor jackin and jukin all ova. Planet Rock's version is certainly out of this world. Super deep kicks combined with squeaky fidget elements make this a track perfect for Carnivale....on Saturn. Team Jaguar's track definitely feels as though it could work as peak time track from the EP. Huge builds, white noise stabs, and some really great percussioin that gives this remix some real spatial power. Look out for this release of the entire "Brand New" remix EP set to drop on gLAdiator's soundcloud and facebook this Friday, January 27th. Just in time for the weekend. Don't get much better than that y'all.
